Water Based Recreation

This page outlines the Water Based Recreation Theme which is funded under the Lough Neagh Strategic Fund.

Aim

The aim of the Water Based Recreation Theme is to manage, enhance and market recreational opportunities for local people and visitors whilst ensuring the Lough Neagh Wetlands environmental, economic and social integrity.

Project Types

WR 1.1 – Expand strategic harbour/quay facilities

We would like to fund a number of strategic projects dealing with the development and improvement of public harbour/quay facilities.

WR 1.2 – Support to extend navigable waters

We would like to fund a number of strategic projects dealing with improving waterways navigation, including dredging, channel marking and lock restoration.

WR 1.3 – Production of navigational aids

We would like to fund a number of strategic projects dealing with the development and publication of navigational information, including charts, interpretation panels and leaflets.

WR 1.4 – Expand opportunities for angling

We would like to fund a number of strategic projects dealing with the development of angling on and around Lough Neagh. Angling development should take place in liaison / consultation with the relevant fishery owner.
